Deck & Fence Staining in Oklahoma City & Metro Suburbs

Oklahoma’s sun and rain can gray out and rot your deck and fence faster than you expect. We pressure-wash, brighten, and apply industrial-grade penetrating stains to lock in color and protect against the elements. Whether you want solid, semi-transparent, or clear finishes, your outdoor space stays beautiful and durable in the OKC metro.

What happens during the deck and fence staining process?

We start with a high-pressure wash to strip old stain, mildew, and dirt, then use wood brighteners to restore natural tone. Next, we apply a penetrating stain that soaks into the grain, not just sits on top. This method resists Oklahoma’s harshest weather—hail, UV rays, and freeze-thaw cycles—without peeling or flaking. For decks, we use 100% acrylic stains; for fences, we choose oil-modified formulas to handle clay soil moisture shifts. Every step is done by hand to avoid overspray damage to plants and siding.

How do you choose the right stain for my deck and fence?

We assess your wood type (pressure-treated, cedar, or composite), sun exposure, and maintenance goals. Solid stains block UV rays best for heavily weathered surfaces; semi-transparent lets wood grain show through while still protecting; clear enhancers suit new cedar. In high-traffic areas like Edmond or Norman, we recommend darker stains to hide dirt. For fences near Oklahoma’s clay soil, we pick water-resistant formulas to prevent warping. Jimmy Garces Jr. personally reviews your site to match stain to your lifestyle and climate.

Why is staining important in Oklahoma’s climate?

Our sun bleaches wood in months, and clay soil moisture makes rot a silent threat. Unsealed decks become slip hazards after Moore’s summer downpours. Penetrating stains act like a raincoat for the fibers, letting wood breathe while blocking mold, termites, and moisture. Unlike paint, they don’t crack under Oklahoma’s temperature swings. A properly stained fence in Del City or Midwest City lasts 5+ years—vs. 2 years unsealed. This isn’t a ‘nice to have’—it’s how you keep outdoor spaces safe and usable in our unpredictable weather.

Can I customize the finish on my deck and fence?

Yes—solid stains give maximum coverage for faded or weathered wood; semi-transparent lets the grain show with some UV protection; clear finishes highlight natural wood beauty without tint. For decks, we can edge-gloss the top for a clean look while keeping the rest matte. Fences get uniform sheens based on your privacy needs. We carry 15+ color options from earth tones to bold reds, tested for fading in OKC’s sun. Your free estimate includes stain chip samples to choose from.

What are the benefits of a professional staining job?

We prep surfaces properly (no shortcuts like renting a pressure washer), use contractor-grade materials, and apply even coats to avoid pooling or missed spots. DIY kits fail in Oklahoma’s conditions because they lack the right stain type and application technique. We also know where to seal gaps to prevent water trapping in clay-prone areas like Mustang or Yukon. Your deck or fence won’t just look better—it’ll last longer and retain value. We stand behind our work because we’re on the tools doing it, not hiding behind subcontractors.

Paint fails at prep, not at the paint

When a paint job looks bad in two years, the cause is almost never the product on the wall. It is what happened, or did not happen, before the first coat.

  • Surfaces cleaned, patched, and caulked first

Dust, chalking, and old caulk that has pulled away all keep paint from bonding. That prep is the slow, unglamorous part of the job and it is the part that decides how long the finish lasts.

  • Primer where primer is called for

Bare drywall, patched areas, raw wood, stains, and big color changes get primed. Not every wall needs it, and we will tell you which ones do rather than charging for a coat that does nothing.

  • Cut lines done by hand

Clean lines at ceilings, trim, and corners come from a steady hand and a good brush. It is the detail people actually look at once the furniture is back.

  • Exterior work timed to the weather

Oklahoma heat, wind, and humidity all affect how coatings cure. Painting a hot surface in direct sun or beating a storm front is how exteriors end up peeling early, so exterior work gets scheduled around conditions.

Letting someone you found online into your house

It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.

  • Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
  • We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
  • Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
  • The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
  • The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We come out, look at the work, and give you a written price at no charge. You are not signed up for anything by asking.

We do not publish flat prices because no two jobs are the same. Square footage, materials, access, and what we find behind the walls all change the number. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and we will come out and price your actual job.

Small repairs can often be fit in within a few days. Larger remodels start once the estimate is approved and materials are in. Call or text and we will give you a real date rather than a guess.

Yes. Jimmy Garces Jr. is on the job, not just at the sales call. That is also why we can handle several trades on one project instead of handing you off between companies.

The Oklahoma City metro plus about an hour's drive in any direction: Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Norman, Yukon, Mustang, Midwest City, Del City, Bethany, Warr Acres and the smaller towns around them. If you are past that ring, call or text anyway. A job can still be worth the drive.

Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.

Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.

Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
