What Edmond Homes Usually Need
Edmond has a lot of newer and higher end construction compared with the rest of the metro, and that changes the nature of the work. Instead of gutting a failing 1960s bathroom, we are more often upgrading finishes that were builder grade the day the house was handed over. That means replacing a plain tub surround with a full tile walk-in shower, swapping laminate for real tile or hardwood, adding a backsplash, building out a fireplace wall, running custom trim and shelving, and repainting interiors that were sprayed once with flat builder white. Homes in the Oak Tree, Fairfax and Coffee Creek areas often want outdoor living added as well: a poured and finished patio, a covered seating area, an outdoor television mount, and concrete that matches the design of the house rather than fighting it.
Older Edmond Homes and Downtown Streets
Closer to downtown Edmond and the older additions near the university, the houses are smaller, the bathrooms are original, and the kitchens have been remodeled once, badly, sometime in the 1990s. Those projects start with what is behind the wall. We open up, look at the framing and the plumbing, fix the water damage or the leaking valve that nobody knew about, and then rebuild. Plaster and older drywall in these homes usually needs skim coating and texture matching before paint, and rushing that step is the reason so many repairs look like repairs. We take the extra day. The same applies to trim: on an older house we would rather mill or match the existing profile than wrap the room in something that clearly does not belong.

Concrete and Exterior Work in Edmond
Edmond sits on the same expansive clay as the rest of central Oklahoma, and long driveways on sloped lots are a common failure point. When a driveway has heaved, cracked through, or dropped at the approach, we replace it rather than chase the cracks. We pour driveways, sidewalks, porches, patios and steps, seal existing concrete that is still sound, and repair the drainage that caused the problem in the first place. Fencing is a steady request here too, especially after spring wind events take out sections of cedar. Exterior painting, trim repair, soffit and fascia work, gutters and roofing round out the outside of the house, so a storm repair does not turn into three separate contractors on three separate schedules.
Kitchens, Baths, and Walk-In Showers
Kitchen and bathroom remodeling is the core of what we do in Edmond. On the bathroom side, tub-to-shower conversions and full walk-in showers are the most requested project, usually with large format tile, a niche, a bench and a curbless or low curb entry when the framing allows. We handle the demolition, the waterproofing, the tile, the valves and fixtures, the vanity, the lighting and the final paint. Kitchens run from a backsplash and new flooring up to a full reconfiguration with new cabinetry, counters, lighting and appliance placement. Because the same crew does the plumbing, electrical, drywall, tile and paint, the schedule does not stall waiting on a subcontractor who is booked out three weeks. Jimmy walks the job with you before anything is torn out so the plan is clear.
Serving Edmond and the North Metro
We cover all of Edmond, including the Oak Tree, Fairfax, Coffee Creek, Kickingbird and Arcadia Lake areas, along with the newer additions on the north and east sides of town. Shekinah Renovations is a service-area business serving the entire Oklahoma City metro, so we are regularly in Edmond, north Oklahoma City and the Deer Creek corridor in the same week. Estimates are free and given in person. Call or text Jimmy Garces Jr. at (405) 532-3348, tell us what the project is, and we will come out, look at the real conditions, and put a number to it. If the job turns out to be smaller or simpler than you expected, we will tell you that too.
What We See in Edmond Homes
Edmond skews newer and higher end than the rest of the metro, so most of our work here is upgrading finishes rather than repairing failures: tile showers replacing builder tub surrounds, real flooring replacing carpet, custom trim, outdoor living space and finished concrete. Closer to downtown Edmond the homes are older and the projects go deeper into the walls. Free estimates in person, either way.

The part you cannot see is the part that fails
Nearly every complaint we hear about a previous contractor is about something underneath: prep that got skipped, waterproofing that was never there, a texture nobody matched. Those are the parts that decide whether work is still good in ten years.
Prep gets the time it needs
Base compaction under concrete, subfloor repair under flooring, surface prep under paint, waterproofing behind tile. It is the invisible half of every trade and the half that decides how long the visible half lasts.
One person is accountable start to finish
Jimmy does the walkthrough, writes the estimate, and is on site while the work happens. Nothing gets lost between a salesperson, a scheduler, and a crew who never spoke to you.
Surprises reach you before they become line items
Rotted subfloor, a hidden leak, wiring that is not to code. When we find something, work stops and you get a call with what it is and what it costs before we touch it.
The site is clean when we leave
Debris hauled off, floors swept, the room put back. The job is finished when you cannot tell we were there except for the work.
Letting someone you found online into your house
It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.
- Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
- We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
- Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
- The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
- The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.

Yes. A lot of Edmond work is upgrading builder-grade finishes in newer homes: replacing a plain tub surround with a tile walk-in shower, swapping carpet for tile or hardwood, adding a backsplash, custom trim, and pouring a finished patio. Older homes near downtown Edmond usually need deeper work inside the walls.
Yes, tub-to-shower conversions are one of our most requested projects. We handle the demolition, any repairs behind the wall, waterproofing, tile, the valve and fixtures, the lighting, and the drywall, texture and paint that finish the room.
Yes. We pour and replace driveways, sidewalks, porches, patios and steps, seal sound concrete, and repair or replace cedar fencing, which takes a beating in spring wind here. Free estimates on all of it: (405) 532-3348.
No. Estimates are free everywhere we work, including Edmond. Jimmy comes out, looks at the job, measures what needs measuring, and gives you a written price. There is no fee and no obligation to hire us afterward.
It depends entirely on the size of the space, the materials you pick, and what we find once we open things up. That is why we look at the job in person before quoting. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and we will come out to Edmond and put a real number in front of you.
Both. We do full kitchen and bathroom remodels, and we also patch drywall, fix a leaking valve, hang a TV, pour a small pad, tear out one wall, or repaint one room. If it is on the list of things we do, the job is not too small to call or text about.
That depends on what is already on the schedule and how big the job is. Small repairs often happen within a few days. Larger remodels get scheduled once the estimate is approved and materials are ordered. Call or text and we will tell you honestly where we are.
Yes, anything and everything. Inside: demolition, drywall, texture, paint, flooring, tile, bathrooms, kitchens, trim, and carpentry. Outside: concrete, roofing, fencing, landscaping, and window installation. Most Edmond jobs end up being a mix of both, and one crew handles the whole thing.
Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.
Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.
Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
