Exterior House Painting in Oklahoma City

Shekinah Renovations LLC paints house exteriors across the Oklahoma City metro: siding, trim, soffit and fascia, porch ceilings, shutters, garage doors and front doors. An exterior paint job in central Oklahoma is protection as much as appearance, because sun, wind driven rain and hard temperature swings work on the outside of a house year round. Owner Jimmy Garces Jr. does the prep and the painting. Free estimates. Call or text (405) 532-3348.

Washing, Scraping and Rot Repair

Nothing sticks to a chalky, dirty or mildewed surface. The house gets washed and given time to dry fully, then failing paint gets scraped and feather sanded so there is no hard edge telegraphing through the new coat. Soft or rotted trim, fascia and window sills get replaced rather than filled, because caulk over rot is a repair with a one year lifespan. Exposed nail heads get set and spot primed to stop rust bleed. Gaps at trim joints, around windows and where dissimilar materials meet get caulked with a paintable exterior sealant, which is also the single best thing you can do to keep water out of the wall.

Priming and Paint Selection

Bare wood, patched areas and any tannin bleeding wood like cedar or redwood get primed before topcoat. Chalky masonry gets a masonry conditioner. On the topcoat, a quality one hundred percent acrylic exterior paint is what holds color and stays flexible through the temperature range central Oklahoma runs in a single year, from triple digit summer afternoons to hard freezes. Cheap exterior paint saves a small percentage of the total job cost and gives back years of service life, which is a bad trade when labor is most of the invoice. Color choice matters too: deep and saturated colors on a full sun elevation fade faster than lighter ones.

Siding Types and How They Get Painted

Wood and hardboard siding need the most prep and benefit the most from paint, since paint is their weather barrier. Fiber cement holds paint extremely well and mostly needs cleaning and caulk maintenance. Stucco and masonry take an elastomeric or masonry-appropriate coating that bridges hairline cracks. Brick can be painted, and it looks great, but it is a one way decision so we make sure you understand that before we start. Vinyl siding can be painted only with products rated for it and only in colors no darker than the original, since a dark paint on vinyl absorbs enough heat to warp the panel.

Sequencing With Other Exterior Work

Exterior paint is best scheduled around the other outside work rather than before it. If [window installation](/services/window-installation) is planned, do the windows first so the new trim gets painted with everything else. If the roof is due, do [roofing](/services/roofing) first so nobody drags material across fresh paint. Fence staining is often done at the same visit for efficiency. Weather also drives scheduling: paint needs surface temperatures and humidity inside the product range, so spring and fall are the reliable windows and we watch the forecast rather than pushing a coat on ahead of a storm.

Free Exterior Painting Estimates

Exterior quotes depend on square footage, stories, siding type, how much scraping and rot repair the house needs, and how many colors are involved. Jimmy will walk the whole exterior with you, point out the trouble spots, and give you a free written estimate. Paint fails at prep, not at the paint

When a paint job looks bad in two years, the cause is almost never the product on the wall. It is what happened, or did not happen, before the first coat.

  • Surfaces cleaned, patched, and caulked first

Dust, chalking, and old caulk that has pulled away all keep paint from bonding. That prep is the slow, unglamorous part of the job and it is the part that decides how long the finish lasts.

  • Primer where primer is called for

Bare drywall, patched areas, raw wood, stains, and big color changes get primed. Not every wall needs it, and we will tell you which ones do rather than charging for a coat that does nothing.

  • Cut lines done by hand

Clean lines at ceilings, trim, and corners come from a steady hand and a good brush. It is the detail people actually look at once the furniture is back.

  • Exterior work timed to the weather

Oklahoma heat, wind, and humidity all affect how coatings cure. Painting a hot surface in direct sun or beating a storm front is how exteriors end up peeling early, so exterior work gets scheduled around conditions.

Letting someone you found online into your house

It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.

  • Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
  • We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
  • Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
  • The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
  • The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only with products rated for vinyl and only in colors no darker than the original. A dark paint on vinyl absorbs enough heat to warp the panel. We check the product rating rather than assuming.

Replaced. Filling rot with body filler and painting over it is a repair with about a one season lifespan. Rot gets cut back to sound material and replaced with treated or rot resistant material, primed on all six sides including the cut ends.

It varies with siding type, exposure, prep quality and paint grade. Full sun elevations and deep saturated colors fade fastest. A quality acrylic over properly prepped and primed surfaces lasts considerably longer than a cheap paint over a dirty one.

After. Do windows first so the new trim gets painted with everything else, and do the roof first so nobody drags material across fresh paint.

Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.

Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.

Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
