What’s Involved in Building a Home Addition in Oklahoma?

A home addition starts with solid design and ends with a finished space that fits your life. We handle everything from concrete footings and slab preparation to framing, electrical, plumbing, and final finishes. In Oklahoma’s clay soil, proper drainage and foundation reinforcement are critical to prevent settling. For wind-prone areas, we use pressure-treated lumber and impact-resistant windows. From a new bedroom with custom closet systems to a sunroom with insulated glazing, we coordinate trades and materials to deliver a seamless expansion.

How Do We Handle Oklahoma’s Unique Challenges?

Oklahoma’s weather and soil demand smart solutions. Our team addresses clay soil expansion with deep footings and French drains. For hail and wind, we install Class 4 shingles and 30-mil roof underlayment. Freeze-thaw cycles? We use insulated concrete forms (ICFs) for basements and crawlspaces. When adding a garage, we specify 4-inch reinforced concrete slabs to withstand Oklahoma’s freeze-thaw. Every addition includes a 6-mil vapor barrier and sealed joints to prevent moisture damage. These details keep your new space durable for decades.

Can I Customize My Addition Design?

Yes. Whether you want a walk-in shower in your new bathroom, a soundproofed music room, or a garage with epoxy flooring, we work with you to define the layout and finishes. We use 3D modeling software to visualize your space before construction starts. Material choices include luxury vinyl plank (LVP) for moisture-resistant flooring, quartz countertops for durability, and low-VOC paints for indoor air quality. For sunrooms, we offer polycarbonate panels that block UV rays while letting in natural light.

Why Choose a Local General Contractor for Your Addition?

A local contractor means we understand Oklahoma City’s building codes, weather patterns, and subcontractor networks. We manage permits, inspections, and coordination so you don’t have to deal with multiple companies. Our process includes weekly progress meetings and clear change-order documentation to avoid surprises. With a single point of contact—from Edmond to Norman—we ensure your project stays on schedule through Oklahoma’s unpredictable spring weather.

What’s the First Step to Start Your Addition Project?

Call or text (405) 532-3348 for a free estimate. We’ll visit your home in the OKC metro—Yukon, Moore, Mustang, or Warr Acres—to assess your needs and goals. Our initial meeting includes a rough sketch of your space and a 30-day start window. Once plans are approved, we order materials locally to minimize delays. Most additions take 8–16 weeks, depending on size and season. Let’s build a space that grows with your family.

The part you cannot see is the part that fails

Nearly every complaint we hear about a previous contractor is about something underneath: prep that got skipped, waterproofing that was never there, a texture nobody matched. Those are the parts that decide whether work is still good in ten years.

  • Prep gets the time it needs

Base compaction under concrete, subfloor repair under flooring, surface prep under paint, waterproofing behind tile. It is the invisible half of every trade and the half that decides how long the visible half lasts.

  • One person is accountable start to finish

Jimmy does the walkthrough, writes the estimate, and is on site while the work happens. Nothing gets lost between a salesperson, a scheduler, and a crew who never spoke to you.

  • Surprises reach you before they become line items

Rotted subfloor, a hidden leak, wiring that is not to code. When we find something, work stops and you get a call with what it is and what it costs before we touch it.

  • The site is clean when we leave

Debris hauled off, floors swept, the room put back. The job is finished when you cannot tell we were there except for the work.

Letting someone you found online into your house

It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.

  • Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
  • We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
  • Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
  • The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
  • The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We come out, look at the work, and give you a written price at no charge. You are not signed up for anything by asking.

We do not publish flat prices because no two jobs are the same. Square footage, materials, access, and what we find behind the walls all change the number. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and we will come out and price your actual job.

Small repairs can often be fit in within a few days. Larger remodels start once the estimate is approved and materials are in. Call or text and we will give you a real date rather than a guess.

Yes. Jimmy Garces Jr. is on the job, not just at the sales call. That is also why we can handle several trades on one project instead of handing you off between companies.

The Oklahoma City metro plus about an hour's drive in any direction: Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Norman, Yukon, Mustang, Midwest City, Del City, Bethany, Warr Acres and the smaller towns around them. If you are past that ring, call or text anyway. A job can still be worth the drive.

Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.

Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.

Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
