Kitchen Remodeling in Oklahoma City
Shekinah Renovations LLC remodels kitchens across the Oklahoma City metro, from a refreshed layout with new cabinets and a tile backsplash to a full renovation with moved plumbing, new circuits, new flooring and new lighting. Owner Jimmy Garces Jr. runs the project start to finish so the cabinets, counters, tile, paint and floor all land as one finished room. Estimates are free. Call or text (405) 532-3348 to talk through what you have in mind.
Deciding How Far to Go
Kitchen projects fall roughly into three levels, and the first job at the estimate is figuring out which one you actually need. A cosmetic refresh keeps the cabinet boxes and layout and changes doors, hardware, countertops, backsplash, paint and lighting. A mid-level remodel replaces the cabinets and counters within the existing footprint, which avoids moving plumbing and gas but lets you fix bad storage and a cramped work triangle. A full remodel moves walls, relocates the sink or range, adds an island with power, and reworks the electrical to current requirements. Moving a sink to the other side of a kitchen on a slab foundation is a real cost, and you should know that number before you fall in love with a layout.
Cabinets, Counters and Storage
Cabinets are usually the largest single line in a kitchen budget and the part homeowners live with every day. Stock cabinets are affordable and quick, semi-custom lets you correct odd wall dimensions and add useful interiors, and site-built [carpentry](/services/carpentry-and-woodwork) makes sense for a pantry wall or an island that no catalog size fits. See the [kitchen cabinet installation](/services/kitchen-cabinet-installation) page for how cabinets get set and scribed to walls that are never quite plumb. Countertop material follows the cabinets: quartz for durability and no sealing, granite for pattern and price, butcher block for warmth in a smaller kitchen. We template counters after cabinets are set and level, which is the only way to get a seam that disappears.
Backsplash, Flooring and Paint
The [tile backsplash](/services/tile-backsplash-installation) is the detail people notice first and it is one of the highest impact dollars in a kitchen. Flooring gets chosen for how a kitchen is actually used: luxury vinyl plank is waterproof and forgiving underfoot, tile is the most durable, and hardwood is beautiful but wants to be kept away from the dishwasher line. Whatever goes down, the transitions at doorways and the toe kick reveal at the cabinets have to be planned before install, not fudged afterward. Walls and ceilings get patched, textured to match, and painted after the dusty work is done.
Plumbing, Electrical and Ventilation
Kitchens are where the mechanical side of a remodel gets real. New circuits for countertop receptacles, a dedicated circuit for a microwave or disposal, undercabinet lighting, and a range hood that actually vents outside instead of recirculating through a charcoal filter are all part of the plan. If the sink or dishwasher moves, drain slope and venting have to be worked out first, because a drain that runs uphill is a callback waiting to happen. Work that alters wiring or plumbing generally requires permits and inspection through the city, and that gets built into the schedule rather than skipped.
Free Kitchen Remodel Estimates
The most useful first step is a walkthrough. Jimmy will measure the kitchen, look at what is behind the current cabinets where possible, talk through material options at different price levels, and put a free written estimate together with the scope spelled out. If you have photos of kitchens you like, bring them, because it is easier to price a picture than a paragraph. Serving [Oklahoma City](/locations/oklahoma-city), [Edmond](/locations/edmond), [Norman](/locations/norman), [Moore](/locations/moore), [Yukon](/locations/yukon) and the rest of the metro. Kitchens are a layout problem before they are a finish problem
A kitchen touches cabinets, counters, tile, flooring, lighting, and the trades behind the walls. Most of what goes wrong is sequencing and layout, decided long before anything looks like a kitchen.
Cabinets set level and shimmed to the wall
Walls and floors are never truly straight. Cabinets get shimmed and fastened to a level line so doors hang even and the countertop has a flat, continuous surface to land on.
Backsplash laid out to the room
Where the pattern starts decides whether you end up with a sliver of tile in the most visible corner. Layout gets set from the focal point out, not from whichever wall we happen to start at.
Clearances checked against the appliances you bought
Ranges, dishwashers, and refrigerators all have real openings and swing clearances. Those get verified against your actual appliances before cabinets are set, not after.
Licensed trades brought in where the scope requires it
Moving gas, water, or circuits is licensed work in Oklahoma. When a kitchen needs it, the right trade partner handles that portion and it is coordinated as part of the schedule instead of becoming your problem.

It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.
- Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
- We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
- Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
- The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
- The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Not necessarily. Keeping the sink and range in place avoids the largest cost driver in a kitchen remodel. Moving a sink on a slab foundation means opening concrete and reworking drain slope and venting, so you should know that number before committing to a new layout.
Refacing or repainting is far less expensive and works when the boxes are sound and the layout works. Replacement makes sense when boxes are water damaged, the layout wastes space, or you want different heights or depths. We will tell you which fits your kitchen.
For most homeowners it is the combination of cabinet fronts, countertops, a tile backsplash and lighting. Undercabinet lighting and a backsplash in particular deliver a large visual change for a small share of the budget.
Cosmetic work generally does not. Work that adds or alters circuits, or that moves plumbing, typically requires permits and inspection through the city. That is planned into the schedule instead of skipped.
Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.
Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.
Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
