Patching, Texture and Wall Prep
Central Oklahoma soil movement puts hairline cracks at the corners of doors and windows in a lot of metro houses, and nail pops show up along studs as framing dries and moves seasonally. Those get fixed properly: pop set and refastened, crack cut out and taped rather than smeared with filler, then floated, sanded and textured to match the surrounding wall. Painting straight over a patch without matching the texture leaves a shiny smooth island that shows in every light. Greasy kitchen walls get degreased so paint can actually bond, and water stains get a stain blocking primer, because a stain painted over with wall paint will ghost back through.
Cutting In, Rolling and Coverage
Clean lines where the wall meets the ceiling and the trim are the mark of an interior paint job done by hand rather than rushed with tape. Rolling gets done wet edge to wet edge so the sheen is even, with the nap chosen for the wall texture, since a heavy knockdown texture needs a longer nap to fill the valleys. Two coats is the default, not an upsell. Deep colors, big color changes and any bare or patched substrate get primed first, which almost always saves a coat and produces a truer color. Doors and trim get lightly sanded between coats so the finish is smooth to the hand.
Ceilings, Trim, Doors and Cabinets
Ceilings usually go first, in flat paint, and getting a ceiling right is mostly about lighting the work so you can see holidays and missed spots. Trim and doors take a harder finish that wipes clean, and door hardware comes off rather than getting taped around. Cabinet painting is its own scope: doors come off and get labeled, everything is degreased and scuff sanded, a bonding primer goes on, and the finish is applied thin and even, then given real cure time before the doors go back on. Cabinet paint that gets rushed back into service is how you end up with doors that stick together.
Accent Walls, Texture and Repairs
If you want an accent wall, a two-tone hallway, painted brick on a fireplace or trim in a contrasting color, that is straightforward and it is where a lot of visual value comes from for very little money. Painted brick needs the right primer and is effectively permanent, so we will talk it through before committing. Surfaces cleaned, patched, and caulked first
Dust, chalking, and old caulk that has pulled away all keep paint from bonding. That prep is the slow, unglamorous part of the job and it is the part that decides how long the finish lasts.
Primer where primer is called for
Bare drywall, patched areas, raw wood, stains, and big color changes get primed. Not every wall needs it, and we will tell you which ones do rather than charging for a coat that does nothing.
Cut lines done by hand
Clean lines at ceilings, trim, and corners come from a steady hand and a good brush. It is the detail people actually look at once the furniture is back.
Exterior work timed to the weather
Oklahoma heat, wind, and humidity all affect how coatings cure. Painting a hot surface in direct sun or beating a storm front is how exteriors end up peeling early, so exterior work gets scheduled around conditions.
