Carpet Installation in Oklahoma City Homes

Shekinah Renovations LLC installs carpet throughout the Oklahoma City metro, from a single bedroom to a whole house, including stairs and landings. Carpet is still the right answer where you want warmth, quiet and a soft floor underfoot, and a good install comes down to pad choice, power stretching and where the seams land. Free estimates. Where Carpet Still Wins

Hard surface flooring has taken over living areas, but carpet is still the best choice in bedrooms, on stairs, in bonus rooms over a garage and anywhere sound transmission is a problem. It is warmer in a January cold snap, it is quieter in a two-story house, and it is the safest surface underfoot on stairs. In a house where somebody is a light sleeper or where a media room sits above a bedroom, carpet with a good pad does more for comfort than any other flooring decision. It is also the least expensive way to make a large space feel finished.

Fiber, Twist and What Actually Wears Well

Carpet performance comes mostly from fiber type and construction rather than from price alone. Nylon is the most resilient and best for high traffic areas and stairs. Polyester and triexta are softer and inherently stain resistant, which suits bedrooms and light traffic. Density and twist level tell you more about how it will look in three years than the marketing name on the sample does: a dense carpet with tightly twisted yarn resists matting, a loose one crushes down in the traffic lane no matter what it costs. Loop and patterned styles hide traffic well but can snag with pets, which is worth knowing if you have a cat.

Pad and Subfloor Prep

The pad is not the place to save money. Pad thickness and density affect how the carpet feels, how long it lasts, and whether the warranty stands, and an overly thick soft pad actually shortens carpet life by letting the backing flex. Before carpet goes down, the subfloor gets checked: loose panels re-fastened to stop squeaks, damaged sections replaced, tack strip set at the right distance from the wall, and any moisture problem addressed rather than covered up. On concrete slabs the tack strip is fastened to the slab and moisture is checked, since a damp slab under pad is how a room ends up smelling musty.

Power Stretching, Seams and Stairs

Carpet gets power stretched, not kicked in. A stretcher pulls the carpet tight across the room so it stays flat for its life instead of rippling in a hallway after the first year, and ripples are the most common complaint about cheap installs. Seams get planned to fall out of the main sightline and away from traffic paths, cut with the pattern matched, and seamed with heat tape so the joint is nearly invisible. Stairs take the most skill: each tread wrapped and tucked, the nose tight, and the carpet run in the correct direction so the nap does not shade differently step to step.

Free Carpet Estimates

Carpet quotes come down to square yards, fiber and pad choice, stair count, and whether furniture moving and old carpet removal are included, and we will spell all of that out. What goes wrong under a floor

Most flooring complaints are not about the flooring. They are about the surface it went down on and the prep that got skipped to hit a price.

  • The subfloor gets checked and fixed first

Soft spots, squeaks, water damage, and high or low areas do not go away under new flooring, they telegraph through it. We find them before anything is laid and tell you what the repair costs before we proceed.

  • Flat, within tolerance

Plank and tile both have flatness requirements. Laid over a floor that is out of tolerance, plank flexes at the seams and tile cracks or ends up with lippage. Where a floor needs leveling, it gets leveled.

  • Moisture handled on slabs

Concrete gives off moisture, and it will ruin a floor from underneath. Slab installs get the underlayment and moisture barrier the material calls for.

  • Transitions, trim, and expansion done properly

Floating floors need room to move at the walls or they buckle. Transitions between rooms and materials get real trim rather than a strip of filler, and quarter round goes back so the edges look finished.

Letting someone you found online into your house

It is a fair thing to be careful about, and we would rather answer it straight than talk around it. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company name. Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since.

  • Every photo and video on this site is Jimmy's own work around the OKC metro. None of it is stock.
  • We will put you in touch with people we have done work for. Ask on the walkthrough.
  • Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. Where a trade is licensed, we say so and bring in the right partner.
  • The estimate is free and written down. You know the number, and the scope, before anything starts.
  • The person who quotes your job is the person who shows up to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bedrooms, stairs, bonus rooms over a garage, and anywhere sound transmission matters. Carpet is warmer in a January cold snap, quieter in a two-story house, and the safest surface underfoot on stairs.

Yes. Pad affects how the carpet feels, how long it lasts and whether the warranty stands. An overly thick, soft pad actually shortens carpet life by letting the backing flex, so pad is matched to the carpet rather than chosen by thickness alone.

Because it was kicked in rather than power stretched. A power stretcher pulls carpet tight across the room so it stays flat for its life. Ripples in a hallway are the classic sign of a rushed install.

Fair question, and it is the one we would ask too. Shekinah Renovations is a newer company, but Jimmy is not new to the trade. He started at fourteen, learned it from his stepdad, and has been doing this work ever since. Every photo and video on this site is his own work around the metro, not stock, and we are glad to put you in touch with people we have worked for. He is also the one who shows up for the estimate and the one on site while the work happens.

Oklahoma does not issue a general contractor or remodeler license, so for most of what we do there is no state license to hold. For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.

Usually the same day. Call or text (405) 532-3348 and it reaches Jimmy directly. If he is on a job site with his hands full he will get back to you as soon as he is off it. Most people call two or three contractors and hire whoever actually answers, so we try to be that one.
