When Windows Are Worth Replacing
The honest signs are these: fogging or condensation between the panes, which means the insulated glass seal has failed and the window cannot be repaired; sashes that will not stay up, will not lock, or have to be forced; visible rot in a wood frame or sill; noticeable drafts and cold surfaces in winter; and single pane glass in a house you plan to stay in. A window that simply looks dated but seals and operates fine is a lower priority than one that is failing. We will tell you which of your windows genuinely need replacement and which ones can wait a few years.
Full Frame Versus Insert Replacement
An insert or pocket replacement sets a new window inside the existing frame, which keeps the exterior trim and siding intact and is faster and less expensive. It is the right choice when the existing frame and sill are sound and square. A full frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening, which is necessary when there is rot, when the opening is out of square, or when you are changing the size of the window. Full frame costs more and it is the only way to correct a bad opening or add proper flashing, so we look at each opening rather than quoting one method for the whole house.
Sealing, Flashing and Insulation
The performance number on a window sticker assumes the window is installed correctly. What makes the difference in practice is the flashing and sealing: a properly lapped sill pan and flashing so water that gets past the siding drains out rather than into the wall, low expansion foam or backer rod and sealant in the gap between the frame and the rough opening, and exterior sealant at the trim joints. Wind driven rain during Oklahoma storms will find any gap that was left. Shimming the window plumb, level and square, and checking that it operates and locks smoothly before the trim goes on, is the other half of it.
Glass Options and Interior Finish
Double pane insulated glass with a low emissivity coating and argon fill is the practical baseline in this climate, where the summer cooling load is the dominant concern and afternoon western sun is brutal. Triple pane is available and the payback is longer here than in a colder climate. Grid patterns, frame colors and operation style, meaning single hung, double hung, slider, casement or picture, are chosen for the look of the house and how you actually use the room. Interior trim gets replaced or reinstalled, the stool and apron get fit, and everything gets caulked and painted so the finished opening looks original to the house.

A window is a hole in your wall until it is sealed
Replacement windows fail at the opening, not at the glass. Water and air both find a bad install fast, and Oklahoma tests both.
Set square, level, and plumb
A window racked in the opening will not seal and will not operate right. Units get shimmed and checked in all three planes before they are fastened.
Flashed and sealed against water
The opening gets flashed so anything that gets past the trim is directed back out, rather than into the framing where it will sit.
Insulated without forcing the frame
Gaps get filled with material that insulates without bowing the jambs. Overfilled foam is why some replacement windows are hard to open from the day they went in.
Trimmed and finished inside and out
Interior casing and exterior trim both get put back so the opening is finished, sealed, and looks like it belongs.

For the trades the Construction Industries Board does license, Jimmy has applications in progress and we will tell you that plainly rather than imply otherwise. Where a job requires a licensed plumber, electrician, or registered roofer, we bring in the right trade partner for that portion. Ask about your specific job and you will get a straight answer.
